CARPENTERS LAND BRIDGE

Carpenters Land Bridge will connect Stratford Waterfront with the London International Quarter. The new bridge will create a direct route for pedestrians and cyclists in a highly complex area where rail lines intersect with high-speed roads.

The CLB design responds to two different sets of considerations: -The Bridge must meet safety requirements, be robust and durable, and allow for quick installation of the structure. -The bridge is also a link and a transition between two places with a clear identity and character.

It is also a boundary for the cultural and educational district, introducing its creative and distinctive atmosphere. These contrasting requirements suggested the metaphor of a fruit.

Resistant and strong from the outside, it responds to specific contexts and climatic conditions. The interior, on the other hand, is fresh, soft and fleshy. The external skin is a protection for the delicate interior.
